Behavior Modification

Behavior Modification

Behavior Modification is a structured process by which we retrain ourselves or someone else to behave more productively. By carefully applying reinforcement (and perhaps punishment), we condition the subject to behave the way we want them to behave (even if that is our self). For example, I like Reese’s Cups and would like to improve my putting skills. If I decide to reward myself with a Reese’s Cup whenever I make 4 of 10 putts from over 15 feet, I engage in Behavior Modification. This process occurs around us every day.
