Toward New Conversations Between Sociology and Psychology

We each came to this special issue from quite different backgrounds, yet we are equally convinced of the need to open up new conversations about the potential and politics of working at the intersection between sport sociology and Sport Psychology. Before outlining the rationale for, and structure of, this special issue, we-Holly, Tatiana, and Jim, respectively-would each like to provide a vignette to give the reader a sense of our own thinking about interdisciplinary research that ultimately led us to this collaborative project.
