In September 2007 the first international conference on sport and spirituality was held in York, England. There, an international collection of philosophers, theologians, kinesiologists and sports team ministers gathered to present papers and investigate the common ground of philosophy, theology, ministry and sport. Some of those at the forefront of this emerging field have published Sport and spirituality, consisting of a dozen essays by four primary authors from varying academic disciplines.
